TE KAHA ORANGA FUND

Our Why

In every community people want a chance to play sport. Unfortunately, some families find themselves unable to cover the fees or associated costs to participate in organised sport. The Harbour Hockey Charitable Trust (HHCT) - Te Kaha Oranga Fund was driven by the commitment to remove or minimise the barrier to participation for all our hockey whanau.

The benefits of sport participation are well documented. Playing hockey supports community engagement, leadership and teamwork skills and the development of self-esteem, and confidence, which are vital in our community.

Through the Te Kaha Oranga Fund, families dealing with financial difficulties have one less expense to worry about. Our aim is to ensure that, as far as possible, financial obstacles do not hinder anyone from being able to experience the great game of hockey. That’s why the Te Kaha Oranga Fund was started, and that’s why funds are continually made available to ensure everyone who wants to play, can!

Our purpose

HHCT’s purpose includes (but is not limited to) the development, provision and fostering of welfare activities for the benefit of the public. The welfare fund will provide financial support to:

  • promoting the amateur game of hockey as a means of achieving any charitable purpose, including:

  • participants deriving health benefits from participation in hockey through physical activity and/or organised competitions; and/or

  • promoting non-professional community health and well-being and educational activities operated by NHHA.
